What is profiling?
Profiling is the shape of your skate blade that contacts the ice. It affects your acceleration, agility, speed, and stability—basically how your skates feel and perform on the ice.
Most stock blades come with a basic profile, usually a 9' or 10' radius, but there are dozens of options out there—combo and quad profiles included—that can drastically improve your edge control and overall performance. A proper profile can also correct small manufacturing defects in blade height that, over time, may lead to discomfort or imbalance.
At ProSkate, we use NHL equipment manager-approved tech to give you the best results. Our brand-new Blackstone I-90 profiling machine delivers unmatched precision and consistency. We follow it up with a sharpening on our Fireball machine to protect both your profile and blade lifespan.
Old-school hand sharpening has its place, but it changes your profile every time. With ProSkate’s proven system, you get elite-level accuracy and confidence in every stride.
Choose what profile is right for you?
Finding the right profile can feel overwhelming—but that’s where we come in.
At ProSkate, we walk you through it. We talk with each player (or parent), ask about your position—forward, defense, or goalie—your skating style, and what you’re hoping to gain from profiling.
Whether you're after:
More glide with less blade friction
Better agility
Increased speed
More stability
…we’ll help you figure out what matters most. You can’t max out everything at once—some trade-offs are part of the process. But our job is to find the right balance to help you perform your best.
Let’s dial in the profile that fits your game.
Profiling Breakdown: Glide, Power, and Precision
At ProSkate, we offer a range of profile options designed to match your skating style, position, and performance goals. Here’s a breakdown of what’s available and how each can impact your game.
Heel Glide Profiles
Flatter at the heel, these profiles give you more power, speed, glide, and stability—while curving toward the toe for agility and quick starts. The center point sits slightly forward for added control. Keep in mind our Omni profiles are pretty close if not the same as other competitors quad profiles.

Pitch vs No Pitch?
Pitch adjusts how your blade sits on the ice. A slight forward pitch can help you feel more on the balls of your feet and toes—ideal for powerful, aggressive skating. A neutral pitch keeps you more upright and balanced.
We’ll ask questions like:
Do you feel like you’re skating on your heels or falling backward?
Do you skate upright, or do you stay low with deep knee bend?
Pitch isn’t for everyone—most skate brands comes with their own pitch that’s why we take the time to figure out what works best for you.
